The Power of Chanting Mantras

Recently I have been in a very remote place about 120 km north of Terrace, BC. I experienced 'heavy' energies there. For the first several days I was personally affected - every task seemed like a mountainous task.
Then I found out what the history of this place was - Native People had been killed by smallpox and 250 years ago there was a huge volcano eruption, wiping out several native villages and killing over 2000 people. Additionally I was told that this valley is called the 'weeping' valley by the Natives. There is a lot of alcoholism among the present day native people.

After understanding the above I knew this place needs a lot of healing. So I began chanting the Markandeya Mantra, a very powerful Healing Mantra.
It didn't take long and I felt much better. The people around me changed, becoming friendly and co-operative.

I have known about the power of mantras... and I know when mantras are chanted with several other people they have even a more powerful effect.


We all love to give and share what we have once we acknowledge how abundant we are. Giving is an honour, an appreciation of knowing that I have to give and of gratefulness for what is being received. Not giving is telling the universe or myself that I don't have (and then I won’t have!).

In giving and receiving there is gratitude or a flow. When giving or receiving stops the flow is interrupted and balance is lost. 

Beliefs - what we experience is what we actually believe


If we were to really get it how beliefs are holding us back to have a happy, content and ecstatic life we would have no trouble to let them go. However even the belief to have to hold on to beliefs is a belief. Beliefs that don’t serve us keep us in duality, keep us separate and are not true. The paradoxical thing is that they do their utmost to keep us trapped. After all they (our divisive identity) want to survive by all means. They often sound really good and we fall for them.
We all have some unconscious beliefs that run our lives. However the more conscious we live and the more we become aware of our inner experiences the more we have an opportunity to drop these unconscious beliefs that don’t serve us.
In conversation with people I notice how many beliefs we have adopted from our culture or our family without checking if they are true.
I know a woman who is a Buddhist meditator. She told me that her friend called her because she is sad and wants some company. The good cultural thing to do is to feel sorry for the friend and in that keep her in her belief of what caused her sadness to begin with.
When we experience sadness or grief we might have a belief of expecting certain things from others, like,
“I wanted him, her to do this or that and they didn’t do it.”
“This shouldn’t have happened.”
“He promised such and such and didn’t keep his promise.”
What if we replace these beliefs with a new definition?
“I have no expectation on others whatsoever and allow others to give freely, of their own accord, with love?”
Making promises is often a great trap all around. How often do we give promises that we don’t really mean? Or that someone else obliges us into? Or that we actually have no clue what implications they have? Like taking oaths or giving marriage vows.
Aware people who respond in the moment from an expanded consciousness don’t need to give promises. They simply do what is the  most loving thing to in the moment.
Then there is a belief that it takes time to grieve. It takes as long as we insist it to should take. Again when we check within ourselves and notice that we had a certain idea, ‘a belief of what should have been – like the spouse not dying or leaving us’ and instead know as a certainty that whatever happens is always, always, always for the best of all involved.
We know this from our life experience – how often do we hear from people who had experienced the most horrible torture that they wouldn’t have wanted it any other way because they learned so much from it.
This brings me to share that it is always up to us how we look at anything, any situation. It’s never a particular happening that matters but how we respond to it, what we do or don’t do about it.
How many people spend thousands of dollars on medications because they can’t sleep. I have found that we don’t fall asleep when we are either too excited - high energy - or if there are unresolved emotions and thoughts keeping us awake. What if we were to look at what belief causes these emotions instead of spending money on sleeping pills or health practitioner visits?
Why are we so worried when we can’t sleep? Another belief sneaks in – “If I don’t sleep enough I can’t do my job.”  What if we were to ask for extra energy when required. There is an infinite supply available when we really want it. We have all experienced that – e.g. when you are tired in the evening and then a friend calls and invites you for something you really are interested in.
When people get a cold or a flu they believe that they got a virus in school or some other environment. After many rainy days people often get colds or when they are stressed. How many people take flu shots instead of noticing that they get a flu because they belief a virus gives them a flu. I don’t believe any of that and I don’t get a flu. If I feel even the slightest onset of any dis-ease I take time to rest, relax and reflect and then I don’t have to actually get sick.
I have found that allergies in the early spring or fall happen to those people who believe in getting it.
The belief in sickness is so rampant that we have a huge economy thriving on all the aspects of it.
Many people have a belief that life is difficult and a burden. We worry about safety and security. We fear so many impossible things. We believe the bad news 100%. We trust negativity in a very gullible way. Good News Newspapers have never made it yet – because people don’t believe in good news. Isn’t that interesting! Why do people want to hear bad news? It’s keeping people stuck in their separatist identity. Bad news resonate with many people still, it’s the old familiar story.

After we have trodden the difficult negative path long enough we are ready to embrace the path of synchronicity. Our awareness has reached a point where we know that we have created the negative path. That knowing tells us that we are also capable to create a beautiful path, one that we truly prefer – inner harmony that reflects without.

Healing on different levels

The other day I met literally 15 people who in conversation talked about their sickness—breast cancer, lung cancer, bone cancer, knee-problems, replaced hip, arthritis in fingers, heart attack, chest flu, skin problems, bladder infection, accident, hip problem, obesity, depression, compulsive behaviour.
Now when you meet these many people with health-conditions in one or two days, and I am not much among people in general, then it is clear that a strong message is being delivered. 
As a child I had many health issues and I had an overall sense that the medical system was not able to help me in dealing with my diseases. With that attitude I developed a strong somewhat negative inclination to never want to have to deal with medical professionals ever again.
I studied to use natural treatments and I also learned to look within.
Over time as I became more aware I realized that the point is not whether the medical system can help or not. Also if I write them off it’s a way of judging them.
I realized that I am the creator of my health. It is in looking at what belief-patterns are running, mostly in the background, that bring forth disease which in turn allows me to see how I wish to redefine my reality.
As I am in charge of how I respond to all that happens to me I want to be very clear how I define my life. Most belief-patterns I have unconsciously adopted from my family or my culture or my society. They are not what I wish to keep propagating and thus causing myself a life that I don’t prefer.
I don’t have to buy into the mostly still current beliefs in regards to illness—how real disease is and all the stories we tell ourselves daily that validate and justify disease. I don’t have to subscribe to the idea that disease is solely caused by a virus or stress generated by others or an emotional response due to some external circumstances.
For years I have observed that pains in our bodies or diseases seem to be there sometimes but not always. I asked myself how can something be there sometimes and then be gone. I realized that disease is more malleable than we have believed it to be. I found that we can talk ourselves into believing that we have a disease. When we are in a negative frame of mind we can easily contract some illness. Fear produces a host of diseases.
We all have our favourite weak body-parts that seem to get ill. For some it’s the throat or the skin, for others the heart, or the stomach or hips…

The good news is that disease carries a message for us, like everything in life and there is nothing that we have to look at from a negative perspective. All is meant for our best, no matter what we thought so far.
Besides accepting WHAT IS in the moment with grace and gratitude, knowing that everything has a benevolent purpose for our growth and evolution there are ways we can live a healthy lifestyle that prevent many diseases.

I have found the following to be essential and I have seen these same items to be the foundation for health from many other sources.
They are breathing fresh air, drinking sufficient pure water, exercising our body, cleansing our body from toxins, reducing stress and eating a healthy diet that is beneficial not only for our body, but mind and spiritual development.
I have learned many practices over the years and I experienced many benefits from them. I found some very instrumental in maintaining great health. My life has become simpler, easier, more joyful and my health is at its best.
The most important practices include breathing exercises and toning, yoga poses, meditations, and imagery. I offer sessions and workshops which include those practices. I also invite people for a monthly vegan/raw food meal evening.

When talking about health we often think only of our physical body. Health includes also our emotional  and mental ‘body’. Actually our physical body reflects where our thoughts and emotions are at. So we really need to look at those first of all. Once we do that we find that our thoughts are a collection of belief-patterns, often unconscious, that we have accumulated in our life. They aren’t really ours, nor do they serve us. So hanging on to them is quite ridiculous. Once we see that we can let them go and are ready to come up with new definitions that are more representative of who we really are.

Some time ago the skin on my legs turned to many red scaly patches (a kind of psoriasis) and it got worse by the day. After two months I applied what I wrote above and without a doctor my legs were completely healed within one week.

Healing through Relationships

Relating to people is often quite complex and convoluted. People’s emotions get in the way when they interact with each other. Instead of seeing what is, we see things through the filter of our emotions and our incomplete issues. What I mean with incomplete issues are hurt feelings, reactions, vulnerabilities, resentments etc. Unless we complete these issues we won’t be free to BE, in any given situation.

So in a sense relationships are a gauge where we are being shown where we stand in terms of our own completions. Whenever we find that others are ‘doing wrong’, that they ‘need to change’ or to be more truthful  are triggering us, then we know that we have an opportunity to look within.

 Relating becomes very easy when we live from our highest excitement every moment. When we do that we don’t demand and expect from others to be or do different than they are.

We are responsible for ourselves and we really don’t have a right to expect anything from anyone, including our spouses – if they don’t give freely with love, we don’t really want it anyhow – because they’ll resent what they give or do.

Obviously there is a need to work together in any type of relationship. Working together is easy when we are happy or when we do things that are really exciting to us. Of course not everyone is happy and so when we find those people in our life we need to find out why we created them. They are there to show us something about ourselves.

As we expand in our awareness we know that everyone has a right to be exactly the way they wish to be. If they cause harm to myself or when they interfere with being my Self then I need to respond and let them know that without making them wrong. If they don’t understand I can always get out of their way or take an action that allows me again to be myself.

This brings me to share that when people fight – they both play a part in it. Without a victim there is no perpetrator and without a perpetrator there is no victim. It is never one-sided. As a culture we have not understood this yet because we have a tendency to protect weaknesses. That has kept us limited believing we are not capable and that we are the creators of our life, our destiny.

So if someone wants you to apologize they have not actually looked at their own issues, they want you to bow to them which then causes resentment in you. The victim, perpetrator syndrome continues. This does of course not exclude having compassion for others.
Forgiveness needs to be for oneself, not others. As soon as we can forgive ourselves for not being Who We Really Are, we are clear and can respond from clarity and oneness without making anyone wrong, neither the others nor oneself.

Whenever we see some flaws in anyone else and we point them out to them we don’t want to make them feel inferior because nobody is inferior or superior. The fact that we see and tell them what they could do ‘better’ or different, is because that is what we actually need and want to tell to ourselves. It might be there in differing degrees but nonetheless it is there. There is only One of us, always being reflected in our ‘surrounding, in others’.

People wouldn’t come into our lives unless there is something we get out of it. Creation doesn’t do pointless things. So what we see in a person, being a mirror, is what we can remind ourselves of what doesn’t work. It can show us where we neglect going within or what we haven’t completed ourselves. It can show us what attitudes we have towards certain things and we were not aware of. The richness that comes from people as mirrors is endless.
Here are some examples to clarify what I am sharing above and to make it less theoretical.
A close relative does two things I used to have an attitude about – he eats meat and he drinks tequila. I used to judge it as ‘bad for him’. By doing what he does he showed me my own attitude and judgement.

One ‘brother’ has two vans, one of which is not working and needs to be discarded. This is the third extra van in the period I have know him that he didn’t let go of unless someone else did it for him – like I was instrumental in selling one and the other one was towed away.
He also doesn’t get rid of his boat or his microscope, both of which sit uselessly around and even cost money every year.  Through what I just shared about this man and where I was being bothered is that he ‘never‘ completes what he starts.
So even though I may not accumulate things, when I searched why I created him, I knew in the depths of my heart that I also didn’t deal with certain things that have been troubling or that have required more focus, like dealing with certain family issues.

So we can find our own versions of what others reflect for us when we are ready to see it.


West-coast rain

Rain and more rain,
And again plentiful rain.
The air is clear,
Full of Prana.

The birds have so much fun,
Diving in the ocean
And surfacing.
They don’t mind
Whether there is rain or no rain
Or plentiful rain.

All of nature is striving,
The earth is soaked with precious water,
Life-giving for her creatures.

People find fault with rain,
“It’s too much rain.”
Because in their hearts
They have not allowed
the rain to invite them to
The wake up call
That Mother Nature has offered.
